Doctrinal Distinctives

Declaration of Faith and Doctrinal Commitments

Welcome to the River of Life International Ministries where you “Come into the flow of the Spirit”.

We are a Spirit-filled church believing in the balance of sound Biblical teaching of the Word of God and the freedom to operate in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, bringing freedom and restoration to the lives of God’s people.

We believe that the Bible is the inherent Word of God and is Truth. (2Timothy 3:16-17)

We believe in the Trinity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, the Triune God.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried and raised as the Intercessor. Therefore, the Lord himself shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel. (Isaiah 7:14) … but from now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the Mighty God. (Matthew 22:69)

We believe that justification regeneration and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ and that salvation comes through God’s grace. (Ephesians 2:8)

We believe that as we seek and engage God, doing all that we can to glorify Him so that His Name will be exalted, He will bring us into a personal and loving relationship with His Son Jesus Christ.

We believe and operate in the five-fold ministries. (Ephesians 4:11-13)

We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 14)

We believe in water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John… (Matthew 3:13015)

We believe in the speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. (Acts 2:4)

We believe in sacrificial prayer, declaring dependence on God, fueled by the belief that apart from Him we can do nothing. “Yes, I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)

We believe in sacrificial giving; by faith sacrificing that which is temporal to impact that which is eternal. “Now, our god, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name. But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.” (1 Chronicles 29:13-14)

We believe in the Lord’s Supper. “…this is my body, do this in remembrance of me. …this cup is the new covenant in my blood, do this, whoever you drink it in remembrance of me.” (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

We believe holiness to be God’s standard of living for His people. “But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: be holy, because I am holy”. (1 Peter 1:15-16)

We believe in sacrificial investing into the lives of others, pouring one’s life and gifts into the lives of others for the sake of eternity. “God showed how much he loved us by sending his only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love. It is not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.” (John 4:9-11)

We believe in the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous and eternal punishment for the wicked. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment; but the righteous into eternal life. (Matthew 25:46)
